SUMMARY:Can we pass Future Generations Legislation?
DESCRIPTION:What if our governments were required to consider the needs of not only now\, but the needs of those seven generations further? \nThe Seventh Generation Principle is based on an ancient Haudenosaunee philosophy that the decisions we make today should result in a sustainable world seven generations into the future. Today\, advocates for Future Generations policy seek to enshrine that belief in today’s institutions. \nMany WEAll hubs are working to pass Future Generations legislation. Wales passed the first law on this principle. San Mateo County in California passed a Future Generations law last year. \n\nCould more cities in California adopt this legislation? Could the State?\nWhere do Future Generations laws fall short?\nThe San Mateo model has prioritized youth participation in the process.  How could we do the same?\n\nThis discussion will be an opportunity for our community to gather and share. \nJessie Green will start us off on some background on Future Generations work and then we will move into group discussion about the future of Future Generations! \nThis discussion will not be recorded. \nSign up HERE
