SUMMARY:Discussion - How Localism Builds a New Economy
DESCRIPTION:The global economic system is powerful\, but we don’t have to wait for large-scale change to start making a difference in our communities. \nWEAll California invites you to share and discuss ideas for how to challenge global economic forces with small scale action. \nFrom lending libraries to localized food systems to smaller-scale energy solutions\, there are so many small tweaks and changes we can make at the neighborhood\, community\, or city scale that have a huge impact on how sustainable and equitable our systems are. \nJoin us for a public discussion where we’ll explore: \n\nWhat does it mean to build a localized economy?\nWhat are the biggest barriers in our communities to localizing?\nWhat ideas have you implemented or would you like your community to implement?\n\nWe’re excited to hear from you! \nHosted by Jessie Green \nSign up HERE

SUMMARY:Bioregional Regeneration Unconference
DESCRIPTION:From our friends in the Bay Area— \nThis is the 4th Bioregional Regeneration Unconference for the SF Bay Delta Bioregion. Each gathering has deepened our network and sparked new collaborations across the region. \nAt previous unconferences\, participants have mapped 100-year visions for the bioregion\, explored governance models from sociocracy to citizen assemblies\, explored mutual aid networks\, and asked hard questions like “what do we tell our kids about collapse?” and “how do we bring more play into resilience work?” \nThis spring\, we’re building on that momentum – and preparing a delegation to the Turtle Island Bioregional Congress in September. \nUsing Open Space Technology\, there’s no pre-set agenda. You bring the topics that matter to you – whether that’s local food systems\, land stewardship\, Indigenous leadership\, solidarity economy\, regenerative tech\, or something we haven’t imagined yet. Our experienced facilitation team holds the structure so you can dive into the conversations that call to you. \nWhether you’re running a community garden\, organizing mutual aid\, working on local policy\, or just wondering how to plug in – you belong here. This is your invitation to join a growing network of people committed to a future that works for all life.

SUMMARY:In Person - Pomona - Community Meeting
DESCRIPTION:A Wellbeing Economy is one where everyone thrives. \nOur current economy is inequitable and does not support community priorities \nJoin multiple community based organizations as we come together again to discuss how we turn visions of Wellbeing Economy into reality here in the Pomona Valley. \nLast year\, we met to explore what a Wellbeing Econom could look like here in Pomona.  Several themes emerged: \n\nQuality of Life – Time to be with friends\, family and community without worrying about financial challenges.\nWorking together – The importance of groups coming together in harmony for solidarity\, maximizing resources and building power.\nChanging the Systems – Looking at what builds community wellbeing and what weakens it and making changes.\n\nJoin us at our May 12th event\, we will work in breakout groups to determine what are the key levers that will build a local Wellbeing Economy and consider forming working groups to keep these efforts going long term. \nThis is a great time to join us and help form what comes next. \nWe welcome people of all ages\, skill levels and occupations.  Let’s build community as we learn together. \nLocation – dA Center for the Arts\, 252 S. Main Street\, Pomona \nSign up HERE to participate.

SUMMARY:Proportional Represenation Explained
DESCRIPTION:ProRep Coalition believes that moving our state legislators from single member districts to multi member districts with proportional representation would lead to a healthier democracy that better represents the multitudes of each district. \nProRep Coalition does educational work to build support for a ballot measure in California to move to this system. \nProportional Representation (PR) is used by most advanced democracies and can help solve many of the shortcomings of a system with entrenched two parties. PR represents diversity better\, encourages cross-party coalition building\, and results in policies that work for the many\, not the few. \nCaledon Myers is the Founder and Executive Director of ProRep Coalition\, and will be joining us to share more about the organization’s work\, and to specifically highlight the democracy reform town halls they’ll be piloting later this year that will be used to determine the features of a future ballot initiative. \nSign up HERE
