Overfishing, mislabelling of fish and extinction of millions of species have become global concerns. Then, you add in labor issues, differing laws, enforcement and ocean health. There are a lot of issues that all need to be tackled on an international level involving governments and companies.
As with almost every topic here, the overriding challenge is how we cooperate and who gets to have a voice in those discussions.
One impressive initiative is Seafood 2030. It is a collaboration between companies, trade organizations, nonprofits, and regulatory bodies to set positive outcome goals for the fishing industry.
