Proportional Represenation Explained

ProRep Coalition believes that moving our state legislators from single member districts to multi member districts with proportional representation would lead to a healthier democracy that better represents the multitudes of each district.

ProRep Coalition does educational work to build support for a ballot measure in California to move to this system.

Proportional Representation (PR) is used by most advanced democracies and can help solve many of the shortcomings of a system with entrenched two parties. PR represents diversity better, encourages cross-party coalition building, and results in policies that work for the many, not the few.

Caledon Myers is the Founder and Executive Director of ProRep Coalition, and will be joining us to share more about the organization’s work, and to specifically highlight the democracy reform town halls they’ll be piloting later this year that will be used to determine the features of a future ballot initiative.
