Discussion – Taxing Billionaires in CA

Several groups have announced a plan to get a Billionaires Tax on the Ballot in 2026
Our purpose for coming together for this discussion is to provide a space to improve our own thinking and perhaps come up with a collective plan or just walk away with more perspective.
Questions I am currently sitting with –
- Why has it been so hard to tax the ultra wealthy in our state?
- Will they leave? Move their companies out of California?
- How much do we provide in Subsidies?
- How can we better form coalitions to get these policies passed?
- How much revenue can be generated?
- How do we get their consent and perhaps desire to contribute?
