Elections are coming up! What should we ask candidates?

July 30 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm PDT

We want to hear from you! With elections around the corner, we want a plan for approaching candidates and elected officials. What policies actively cultivate a wellbeing economy?

We have a starting list of possible asks to help get the ideas flowing. Come ready to tell us what’s missing from the list, what needs adjustment, and what you’d push back on. This is the first in a series of conversations, and the goal is a platform that genuinely reflects what this community wants to ask of its elected officials.

  • Spend public money locally.
  • Expand pathways to ownership — of businesses, property, and the value of one’s own work.
  • Invest in the infrastructure that community economic life depends on.
  • Make capital accessible for community-controlled development.
  • Fund and enable community land trusts and other tools that create permanently affordable space — for housing and for commerce.
  • Protect residential and commercial tenants from displacement.
  • Hold consolidated corporate power accountable.
  • Regulate insurance markets to ensure access, fairness, and community-serving alternatives.
  • Set living wages and enforce labor protections across essential work.
  • Align economic development decisions with long-term environmental stewardship.
  • Give communities real democratic power over economic decisions that affect them.
