There are many basic criteria for human flourishing. Chief among them are clean air to breath, clean water to drink, and nutritious food to eat. Generally, we can live 3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food. But these basic life necessities depend on the wellbeing of a living Earth; human wellbeing is dependent on environmental wellbeing. As such, a Wellbeing Economy involves changing the way human communities are organized (our priorities, policies, and practices) such that we can live sustainably on a living Earth.
Every topic here is designed to provide you with a basic introduction to issues, resources and experts to delve deeper into a topic, and organizations you can get involved in.
Bear in mind that it is important to understand some of the reasons why collective action towards these goals has been so difficult. We cover much of that in our Economy and Democracy sections.
We do believe that everything spirals outward from you. So, understanding what makes it hard for you to take action will help you understand why it is hard for others and then we can begin to change the course of our relationship with nature.
