Local Wellbeing Economy Guide Launch Celebration

We’re excited to announce the release of our Local Wellbeing Economy Guide (v1.0) — a new resource developed by WEAll California volunteer team to help communities take tangible steps toward building a wellbeing economy.

From local business strategies to community engagement practices, the guide offers practical tools, inspiring ideas, and real-world examples to spark action at the local level.

We’d love to hear your thoughts! What do you like best? What’s missing? How might we improve future versions? Let’s co-create a guide and a movement that truly reflects our shared vision of thriving people and planet.

Got event ideas? We’re also planning events to celebrate the guide and showcase the many ways people are putting wellbeing economy principles into action. We welcome your ideas!

In solidarity,

The WEAll California Volunteer Team

Local Spotlight – Complete Neighborhoods in Hayward

When you imagine your ideal future, what does your neighborhood look like?   Is it green?  Are the people friendly?   Do you have to struggle through lots of traffic to get your errands done?

The Complete Neighborhoods movement is appealing because almost everything you need is within walking distance and the community has the feel of a village where people support each other and want to spend time with each other.

Didacus Ramos has been a community leader in Hayward for 20 years, working on affordable housing, public banking and many other civic projects.

His latest initiative, Complete Neighborhoods, is a part of the Strong Towns project.

Join us on Thursday, April 24 at 10am to learn more about this project and to inquire how you can replicate some of this in your community.

Local Leaders Monthly Forum

We are creating an “invite” only monthly meeting for people who are working to create Wellbeing Economies in their local community.

The idea behind making it invite only, is to create a space that will connect you with other change-makers working on Wellbeing Economy initiatives across California. We will exchange ideas and discuss challenges specific to growing local wellbeing economy initiatives in a local area.

Our first meeting will be Tuesday, April 1 from 2 to 3pm with a special focus on addressing the obstacles that our Wellbeing Economy projects face. Through an open discussion and co-creation session, we’ll explore shared challenges and potential solutions to support each other’s work.

The group will meet for an hour once a month so that they can get to know each other and the projects to provide continuity and continuing support.

If you think this could be a good fit for you, please fill out this short form

Multiple Coop Model in Action – Santa Cruz

Ventures has launched Futuro, a professional back office and training program to scale up worker owned cooperatives in the Salinas Valley.  A leading focus of Futuro is to provide income and wealth building for working-class Latin families, with a focus on women and immigrant workers. As the program matures, Ventures intends to transition ownership of Futuro to the community.

Maria Cardenas is the Executive Director of Ventures, a Northern California non profit that  builds community wealth through a variety of programs.  Maria will join us on Thursday, May 8 at 11am to share some of the successes and struggles of launching a multiple Coop based Eco-system.

As will most of our learning events, this is a Q&A style event, where you can inquire about some of the challenges as you work to launch more Coops in your community.
